Being a Medicare recipient can be a wonderful thing. It's good to know that you have the kind of coverage which will allow you to go to your doctor without having to pay huge out-of-pocket costs that you just may not be able to afford. While Medicare is certainly a great thing it might be time to bump things up by switching over to a Medicare Advantage plan. Read through a few of the benefits of the Medicare Advantage plan to see if it's the right choice for you.

The Medicare Advantage Plan Might Offer Even More Coverage

Although you can usually depend on Medicare to cover things such as your annual physical, you might be missing out in other areas. Going to the dentist or optometrist might not be part of the plan. Without the right form of insurance protection, you could be on the hook to pay for these additional services yourself.

Switching over to the Medicare Advantage plan means that you may be able to get coverage for your eye appointments and your visits with the dentist. Certain prescriptions could also be covered, and this cuts down your out-of-pocket costs tremendously.

Maximum Limits Are Also A Helpful Bonus

If you go to the doctor a lot, your co-pays and other personal fees can start to rack up. You might be spending so much on these extra expenses that it would seem that you don't even have medical insurance!

Medicare Advantage plans typically come with maximum out-of-pocket costs. What this means is that no matter how many times you have to go see your doctor, you won't be charged beyond a certain set limit.

For example, say you choose a Medicare Advantage plan that has a maximum annual limit of $1,000 dollars. Your co-pay for each doctor visit is $50 dollars, and you have a particularly rough year health-wise and find yourself needing to see the doctor every other week. Under a regular Medicare plan with no set limit, you would have to pay all 26 of those co-pays. If you have the Advantage plan, you would cap out at the $1,000 dollar limit, even though you should have actually paid much more than that.
